The script for the He-Man Movie of 2009 has allegedly been reviewed by many movie sites. The script is written by Justin Marks and the working title “Grayskull: the Masters of the Universe”. Is has been reviewed well by those who have read it, who also say it contains “ZERO CAMP or CHEESINESS“.
Spoilers follow, please don’t read further is you do not wish to be spoiled…
What is GRAYSKULL about? We get both the origin of HE-MAN (or HE-MAN BEGINS), the origin of SKELETOR, and the origin of THE POWER SWORD. If Warners even remotely executes this script like they did 300 they will have a monster hit on their hands because this script leaves it open for a trilogy.
GRAYSKULL is the perfect marriage of Sorcery and Science fiction where in Eternia both Fantasy and Technology co-exist. The character arc of the hero ADAM works for me because like Bruce Wayne in BATMAN BEGINS, Adam has to overcome his selfish need for revenge and realize his destiny for the greater good of his people – the fallen son of Eternia must rise to occasion and become HE-MAN.

[...] However, this year was an official announcement of a 2011 He-Man movie, which will be directed by John Stevenson, who is a director of last year’s Kung-Fu Panda (an Oscar nominee that lost to Wall-E). The script they work on seems to be the same as the one talked about last year. [...]

I can’t wait to the see the new movie. I do have a couple concerns. One is that Adam wasn’t a fallen son of Eternia. In the cartoons they called him cowardly because of him running off when trouble came. And why don’t they have Hordak in the movie. They have mentioned about having She-Ra/Adora, Bow, Glimmer, Frosta, and a few others (which would be awesome) but why not have Skeletor and Hordak? If you have two worlds combining then why don’t they have both evil villians coming together to do destruction.
