He-Man Movie

A portrait of He-Man

He-Man returns to the stage in an upcoming live-action movie, scheduled for 2009. Details are mostly on the level of rumors, with no announced cast as of yet. The new movie will be produced by Joel Silver and the Warner Brothers, with Justin Marks as writer.

We here at He-Man Fans are eagerly awaiting the movie. The 1987 movie, Masters of the Universe, was a fiasco, so we are definitely hoping they won’t err two times. As the movie is rumored to have great funding, there is hope that we will see a much better version this time.

There are no official word on casting or direction yet (except that there is none), but the plot will allegedly go something like this:

A warrior is touted as the last hope of a magical land called Eternia, which is being ravaged by technology and the evil Skeletor.

The script is said to be complete and a version of it has been read and reviewed by some. Some rumors and spoilers concerning the script are circulating around the blogosphere.

i have read the comments left on this site. Firstly i would like to say that im looking foward to the film as the previous film was great. But secondly i would just like to ask why john you have contradicted yourself.

In response to Trapjaw…The trilogy is only assumed at this point. As the script stands now, the door is definitely left open for a sequel, but as I said, that can change. What you must understand is that these films are not currently scheduled to shoot simultaneously (as was the case with LOTR) What I can tell you is this: MOTU is an expanded universe and the reason why Grayskull: was chosen as a prefix for this film was to widen the stories that could be covered in future films under the Grayskull theme. (as oppose to just calling it He-man) You see whre I’m going with this?

john you say the “first film” and “trilogy” are you verifying that? you sai dthe first one deals with origins of heman
do yuo have any info on the second 2? i am want to know this.

  4. John Hooks Says:

No…way off. We’re looking at getting the first installment of the trilogy (which will deal with the origins of {the} He-man) out in 2010 at this point. Possibly 2011. Things can be delayed. I know that everyone working on this project has made a pact to produce a blockbuster. If extra time is required, they will take it to ensure quality. The unspoken goal is to have this thing in theaters well before the first Hobbit movie hits the silver screen.

It’s gonna be awesome. As one of the few who have read the script, I can tell that it’s great. All the right elements are there. If the elements can come together to bring the masterpiece to the big screen remains to be seen…but yes, it has the potential to be a blockbuster (perhaps even the best of it’s kind) Fine tuning of some of the plot points is expected to continue into the initial production stages.
